Old Fashioned Fruit Cake. Blend eggs, vanilla, sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl. Remove from heat; add sugar, stirring with a whisk.
Bake on middle shelf of oven. Fill the tins with fruit cake batter and spread to even the surface. Add flour mixture, stirring until smooth.
Place a pan ⅓ filled with boiling water in the oven to create steam.
Preheat the oven for a half hour.
Sift ¾ C flour with spices. Then mix some flour in the liquid mixture, then fruit, alternate until fruits are mixed in and dough is stiff. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
